Visual Journalism
Visual Journalism combines journalism and visual recording. Sometimes, the work is created in real time on murals. It differs from graphic facilitation in that the practitioner is a writer or reporter and carefully selects quotes and images to capture a story. Visual Journalism is also used to describe the discipline that creates illustrated news graphics that can be used to tell a story in a single image or series of frames.
Using visuals to record events, the journalist shows story in action, be a neutral observer, and listens for hidden themes.
Certain images have meaning that crosses geography and time. They are ancient symbols that have evolved from nature and, we believe, effect the way people can see ideas. Some of these practices date back to the ancient Egyptians creation of the "cartouche", an image that is literally a container for words and ideas.
